ABSTRACT |
Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia(B.P.H.) is the most common benign tumor seen in the western male, and it is found in 50% of men 50 years old and over. A clinical observation was made on one patient with benign prostatic hyperplasia who had frequent and urge voiding(especially, nocturnal voiding), dysuria, retardiation urine, insomnia without acute urinary retention, incontinence and gross hematuria. This case report illustrates the application of acupuncture therapy of a man diagnosed as having benign prostatic hyperplasia. The patient with benign prostatic hyperplasia was treated with acupuncture for six weeks and the symptoms of nocturnal voiding and insomnia were considerably decreased. This result suggests that acupuncture therapy should be considered for more patients with benign prostatic hyperplasia who have frequent urination, and this study of the approach and application of this treatment on benign prostatic hyperplasia would be necessary. |
